Exclusive Scenes!

1."First Jumper--Tris!"
Shortly after Tris made her decision of becoming Dauntless, she had to jump into the Dauntless headquarters, time when Tobias met her for the first time... Obviously Four thought that the first one to jump will be a Dauntless-born as always, due to the fact that they have more experience in those types of things but he got a tremendous surprise when he saw an abnegation transfer fell into the net before another person. He knows people will remember her because of her bravery...

2."Careful, Tris"
The initiates Four ends up getting are: one Abnegation, five Candor and two Erudite. Four keeps trying to figure out what Jeanine and Max are up to. Moreover, he knows that for initiates to take him seriously, he must be hard on them since the beginning. Four begins to wonder if Tris will recognize him, but at the end they’re no signs of it. Tris sits at the same table as Tobias, his not surprise when he hears that she doesn’t know what a hamburger is, but when she starts making questions he doesn’t want to answer, his responds with "Careful Tris" and that shuts her up. Now he knows who she is, she is Andrew Prior´s daughter, Beatrice, Marcus´s friend.
3."You Look Good, Tris"
At night, Four had been drinking too much, so when he sees Tris, he noticing her shape, her clothing, but he stops before the thought of her shape can go any further. Without thinking he approaches her and kind of start making a fool of himself...

"Um..." She hesitates, and I feel, for a strange, brief moment, like I know her. Not from my time in abnegation, not from school, but on a deeper level, somehow, her eyes and her mouth searching for my name, dissatisfied with the one she finds, just like I was. My initiation instructor gave me an escape from my old identity. I can give her one, too. (Roth 270)
This phrase I got out of the scene; "First Jumper--Tris", at this moment Four feels like he can connect with her-Tris-; I think this are the first signs of them falling in love. Deep down Four knows it, but doenst realize it. Moreover, Amar did left a impact on his life, eventhough in some parts of the book he denied that they really didnt know each other that well, but also, in some on Four´s actions, like this one for exaole, for wants to imitate his fellow instructor as much as posible; maybe because he knows that Amar cared about him and viceversa.

"Didn’t know you had a tattoo," I say, scanning her collarbone. There are three black birds there simple, but they almost look like there’re flying across her skin. "Right. The crows."
I want to ask her why she would get one of her worst fears tattooed on her body, why she would want to wear the mark of her fear forever instead of burying it, ashamed. Maybe she’s not ashamed of her fears the way I’m ashamed of mine. (Roth 284)"
I found this quote quite interesting because it not something you see everyday, a person wearing or showing one of her biggest fears. From my point of view, some people hate people knowing their vulnerability, but in this scene we can see that Tobias is those persons but Tris is quite the opposite. In my opinion, Tris wanted to express a message to the world, not by words, but by actions, which is something you don’t see quite often. What I have learned and see, every human being wants to be afraid of nothing, because they know that is a vulnerability and some people can use it for their sake. I think that what Tris did was very brave, because in a way she is saying I’m afraid of crows but I wont let them stop me from becoming a dauntless. Maybe that’s what Four sees in Tris; she is always surprising him with her character, personality or attitude.

I have reach the end of the book; and I don’t want to be a spoiler so to find out what happens you will have to read the trilogy. In one way or another, maybe this book has change the way I see the world, my family and even myself; eventhough it really doesn’t make sense, and I cant explain in greater detail, is the truth. Now I know that having a united family, that the majority of times doesn’t hit me (without counting the times that they punish me in a hard way and I don’t really agree with the way they choose) I know I can count on them to be there for me and I’m grateful that I don’t have the same problems as Four. Also, each person should have a little of each faction; but don’t just concentrate on just one of them because its okay to be selfless sometimes as the abnegation, or smart as the erudite, brave as the dauntless, is very important to be honest like the candor and last but not least peaceful as the amity. Well, to make it shorter, find out what will your aptitude test say about you...http://divergentthemovie.com/aptitudetest. The Impact Of One Word

"The Traitor," is my book’s next chapter; it takes place to years after what happened in the previous chapter. Tris Prior, an abnegation transfer which is a member of Four’s initiation group, is the girl that ends up taking his heart; Gus, his supervisor, has already catched Tobias a few times breaking the rules, due to the fact that he uses his privilege in the control room to spy on Max and Jeanine’s conversations. After some more investigation, he ends up discovering that the Erudite and the Dauntless are joining forces to attack the Abnegation sector...Furthermore, Four´s initiate group is starting to have a lot of problems and attacks between each other; but the problem is that each time Four complains to Eric, now his supervisor of initiation, doesn´t show must interest. During Tris initiation process, Four finds out that she is like him...DIVERGENT. He gets to the point of telling her the attack plans and allowing her inside his fear landscape. Moreover, Four went to see Marcus, to warn him about whats going to happen the strange thing was that he didn’t believe him... but Four knew he has to protect abnegation...

"This is what Eric´s new system creates: A brave human being has just defeated one of her worst fears in less than five minutes, an ordeal that takes most people at least twice that time, but she´s terrified to go back into the hallways, to be seen as weak or vulnerable in any way. Tris is Dauntless, plain and simple, but this faction isn´t really Dauntless anymore. (Roth 202)"

Four comforting Tris after the test.
The quote mention above came out in the part were Tris had just finished her fear landscape and she is terribly scared; but seeing what it says, she is more afraid to be seen weak and vulnerable by her fellow classmates. Eric wanted to implement a system that will be practice during initiation; he says that Dauntless has always embraced a spirit of competition, this attribute makes people better, stronger and shows the best of each one of them; "I think initiation should foster that sense of competition more than it currently does, so that it produces the best initiates possible. Right now initiates are competing only against the system, striving for a particular score in order to move forward. I think they should be competing against each other for spots in Dauntless. (Roth 168)" Eric was speaking in the quote before; so, that’s what Tris is so afraid of be seen like that, because some classmates can take advantage of that. From my point of view, I would say that I agree with Four thinking this is crazy. When I read how Tris felt, it kind of made me angry because she chose Dauntless for a reason and not for having to fear her vulnerability.

¨"Did you think overcoming cowardice would be easy?" I say
"That isn´t overcoming cowardice! Cowardice is how you decide to be in real life, and in real life, I am not getting pecked to death by crows, Four!"
She starts to cry, but I’m too struck by what she just said to feel uncomfortable with her tears. She’s not learning the lesson Eric wants her to learn. She’s learning different things, wiser ones. (Roth 203)¨

I picked the phrase above because I wanted to show more prove about how wrong the new system is; this happens right after the previous sentence; Tris and Four are still talking about the effects of the fears landscape mixed with the new rules. The sentence that I love the most in this fragments is the one that Tris says "...Cowardice is how you decide to be in real life...” this little piece means nothing when you first read it, but then when you start to analyze it, it starts to make sense; what I got out of this, is that the attitude and personality you have in real life and how you manage to solve problems are the things that determine if you are a coward or not. Also, you don’t have to stop been afraid of your fears, just learn how to control them and no let them stop you from your real goal and the things you want to accomplish in life. "Fear has its use; cowardice has none." Cowardice is not measure by how many fears you have but how many you let to stand on your way...

Before "Four" came out, there is a trilogy about Tris Prior; so "The Traitor" and the last part of my book are just events that happened in the previous books but from Tobias point of view not Tris. Consequently, this book doesn’t end with the results of the attack or what happens between Four and Tris. Fortunately, my book has some seems and events that happened in Divergent, Insurgent or Allegiant, but also from Tobias´s perspective. Those exclusive seems are the ones that are going to end my posts about this amazing book. So, if you want to explore some events from Tris´s life, but from another head, don’t forget to take a look at my next post!

The Real Deal

The next section of my book is called "The Son"; it talks about how life is for Four, as a new dauntless member and how he discovers that his mother came back from the dead... First of all, Four decided that he wanted to live alone after initiation; Max (dauntless leader) offers him the opportunity to be inside the leadership; at the beginning he said yes, but he end up wanting to be an initiation instructor, which is a seasonal work, so he chose to work in the control room during the rest of the year. One day, Tobias found a note inside of his apartment telling him to meet someone; that’s how he got the surprise of his mother being alive, after believing for seven years that she was dead. Evelyn, Four´s mother, told him that the city was changing and she wanted to have him on her side, with the factionless; at first he declined the proposal but then he found something that changed is mind a little. He found out that since he declined the offer as leader, Eric may be the next right candidate for the job; but what he wants for dauntless, has to do more with brutality than anything else, he saw that dauntless only wants a pawn that they can control. Four end up sending a later to his mother telling her "someday not yet." Moreover, Tobias gets another tattoo...this one expressing his divergent part; it is composed of all the faction symbols together showing rebellion; but of course the location is his back so the shirt covers it, only the dauntless flames are visible.

¨"Our city is changing Tobias." It´s the same thing Max said yesterday. "The factionless are coming together, and so are the Dauntless and Erudite. Sometime soon, everyone will have to choose a side, and I know which one you would rather be on. I think you can really make a difference with us." (Roth 159)¨

The quote mention above is mention in the book when Tobias had just discovered his mother have been alive all this time and his mother is trying to convince him to join her group. This quote made me question the "perfect" society they have because now its seems like a rebellion is going to happen in search for power. What are really Erudite and Dauntless planning? Does everybody will have to choose aside? What does Four going to do?

Four´s new tattoo
¨"She sorts through the pages until she finds a drawing like the one I was talking about, The Dauntless flames being cupped by Abnegation hands, The Amity tree roots growing beneath an Erudite eye, which is balanced under Candor scales. All the faction symbols stacked on top of each other. She holds it up, and I nod" ... "You know, the kind of person who gets this tattoo is probably the kind that should keep it very quiet," she said, looking at me from the corner of her eye. “Or else someone will start thinking they’re Divergent." (Roth 162 163)¨
This phrase is located when Tori and Four are discussing about what tattoo did he wanted and where. The first section of it describes in greater detail of what the tattoo is composed, which at first is sounds something ordinary; but when you start seeing the past of that faction world, the reader can clearly notice that those kind of drawings are some kind of rebellion and that’s why in the lower section Tori warns Four about how he has to keep it hidden because it can bring terrible consequences for both of them; for her because she made it and for him because he have it.  When I read these two quotes I thought about what does really the society promotes amongst people; the first thing that came to my mind was that they are so focused on their factions and how to increased their power that when people want to express themselves they have to do it in an indirect form cause that could bring punishments. The good thing about this fragment is that we can see that people still have imagination and think farther of what they had already being teach; people that try to find ways to feel free and expressed.

All this conflict building up in Four´s life is maybe too much to handle being too young, but he seems to be taking things really well. It seems that all he wants to do is let that part of him that is shy, the kind of boy he has been raised to be. I couldn’t imagine how he deals with all he has in mind because sometimes I think I have like a thousand problems, but really they are like five and for me it seems like the end of the world; instead for him is like normal he is used to suffer like that. A good thing that until now his childhood has been helpful is because he can think for himself, so when he was about to become a leader he realize that all they wanted was someone that they can manipulate and he rejected the offer. He just wants to be free, like he expresses himself in the next quote: "All I have, I realize, are the small moments of rebellion I´m able to manage, just like when I was in Abnegation, collecting objects I found on the street. The tattoo that Tori is drawing on my back, the one that might declare me to be Divergent, is one of those moments. I´ll have to keep looking for more of them, more brief moments of freedom in a world that refuses to allow it (Roth 176)" Veronica states everything that I´m saying in those brief words; one thing that I have notice is that when more you forbid a child to do something more he wants to do it, eventhough adults can´t see it they have an inner voice that tells them what to do, so they follow it and most of the times that rebellion type of actions are what build up the teenager personality and attitude to the unknown.
